IP Geolocation
Look up location, ISP, and ASN for any IP address.
This tool uses a server-side service for processing; uploaded files or requests are not kept for long-term storage.
About
Every device that connects to the internet is assigned a public IP address by its ISP. This address can reveal approximate geographic location — typically accurate to city level, sometimes more precise for mobile connections. It also identifies the ISP, hosting provider, or VPN service assigned to that IP range.
IP geolocation works by matching IP ranges against databases maintained by regional internet registries (RIPE, ARIN, APNIC) and enriched by ISPs. Accuracy varies: ISP headquarters locations can differ from actual user location, especially with mobile carriers that centralize routing. Corporate VPNs and cloud hosting IPs resolve to data center locations, not employee locations. This is why checking a VPN IP tells you where the VPN server is, not where you physically are — which is exactly how you verify a VPN is routing correctly.
Common uses: verifying your VPN exit location, debugging geo-restricted content issues, identifying which ISP or hosting provider owns an IP in your server logs, and quick sanity checks on suspicious traffic sources.
